Article 5 : 10-Minute Liquid Soap Recipe

Okay, so this morning, I finally mixed my first batch of soap. I followed the 10-Minute Liquid Soap Recipe found in Sandy Simmon’s “The Super Soap Making Book”.

Since the recipe allows you to choose your own essential oil, I decided to go with lavender. Grating the bar of soap took me all of 10 minutes already! Well, so much for making soap under 10 minutes. But once all my ingredients were ready (soap bar grated, water boiling), it was easy to mix everything. If I timed myself from this point on, then yes this recipe just takes 10 minutes.

So far so good. The recipe is pretty straightforward. And the results were, of course, fantastic (round of applause!). Will try more! Keep you posted.

Article 4 :The Soap Making Diaries

I’m finally doing it - making my own soap. I know I’ve talked about it several times, how much I wanted to give soap making a try.

It certainly raised a few eyebrows when my husband found out what I was up to. Well, he had always known that I want to learn how to make soap. But with my schedule, he didn’t think I was going to actually get to it. So big surprise when he saw me downloading audio files on soap making. I got the ebook and audio book package of “The Super Soap Making Book” by Sandy Simmons.

I decided to go with the audio version because I can save the files on my iPod and “listen” to the book as I move around the house. That’s the only way I can get the book done! So, I did this over the weekend. I’m now midway through the audio and on this chapter on recipes. So far, the instructions sound simple enough.

Well, I’m heading off to get some groceries tomorrow. I’ll be getting some ingredients I’ll need to attempt my first soap recipe. I’m trying out the 10-minute liquid soap recipe.
